Roos Likes Titans Draft Class

Posted by Gary Glenn on April 30, 2012 – 4:59 pm

Michael Roos didn’t watch the draft this past weekend, choosing only to follow some of it on Twitter.

He did, however, like his team’s selections — especially the addition of wide receiver Kendall Wright, the #20 overall pick out of Baylor.

“Picking the receiver in the first round I thought was good,” Roos said in between Titans Caravan stops on Monday. “He’s an explosive player and someone who can compliment all the other receivers on the team and give our quarterback another weapon. He’s a different kind of player. He’s explosive and it will be exciting. I think it was a good pick and will give opposing defenses something to think about.”

Roos believes Tennessee’s offense should be better this season with the addition of Wright and veteran guard Steve Hutchinson.

“Hutchinson is very experienced, a very knowledgable player,” he said. “I think it will be good for our o-line to have a guy like that who at the very least can help all of us kind of work harder and be a more cohesive unit.”

Regarding the competition between quarterbacks Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker, Roos said either player can get the job done.

“Competition is always good,” Roos said. “Both guys are very capable and extremely talented. Whoever wins it, it’s a win for us.”

Roos said there was a strong turnout for the first week of the team’s offseason program, one he and his teammates are looking forward to after missing out on it last year due to the NFL Lockout.

“We had a longer break because of the new CBA, so I think everyone was excited to get back to work,” he said. “We’ve been working out hard. I think you can sense what we did last year just missing the playoffs, everyone wanted to get back at it, work harder and get a good, cohesive team together so we can make a push.”

And what will it take to make that extra push to the playoffs?

“I think little bits of what we have now — commiting to the offseason program and doing everything the right way,” Roos said. “It’s important to take advantage of all the offseason work and OTAs so we’re not playing catchup. We’ll know the plays and be more efficient by having this full offseason.”

To be honest I was truly suprised when the front office choose to go Offense, but Kendall Wright will provide DEPth in our Wide Reciver Core it gives CJ more option providing more weapons in the slot with Kenny Britt #18 and NATE THE GREAT great draft class and DEFENSE will when you games
