Cook is one of NFL’s Hottest Tight Ends Over Last Four Games

Posted by Gary Glenn on September 13, 2012 – 4:45 pm

Ever since the end of last season, Jared Cook has taken his game to the next level.

In fact, over the last four games, his 399 receiving yards lead all NFL tight ends and rank fourth among all players, trailing only Calvin Johnson, Victor Cruz and Roddy White.

In the season opener vs. New England, Cook continued the hot streak he began in the final three weeks of the 2011 regular season, catching four passes for 64 yards.

Cook realizes he has turned the corner, and his confidence is at an all-time high.

“I consider myself one of the top guys in the league,” Cook told reporters after Thursday’s practice. “I think I’m in that caliber.”

That’s not being cocky — that’s Cook realizing the talent he has and now having the confidence to produce at a high level, week-in and week out.

As for his torrid four-game pace, Cook said, “Those are games from last year. It’s a new year, so I strive to improve and keep working to get better.”

NFL’s Most receiving yards since Week 15 of 2011 (Dec. 15, 2011–present):

1 – Calvin Johnson (Detroit) 30 rec. – 671 yds (22.4 avg) 4 TDs
2 – Victor Cruiz (NY Giants) 20 rec – 444 yds (22.2 avg) 2 TDs
3 – Roddy White (Atlanta) 31 rec – 418 yds (13.5 avg) 2 TDs
4 – Jared Cook (Tennessee) 25 rec – 399 yds (16.0 avg) 1 TD
5 – Darrius Heyward-Bey (Oakland) 24 rec – 398 yds (16.6 avg) 2 TDs
6 – Julio Jones (Atlanta) 23 rec – 397 yards (17.3 avg) 6 TDs
7 – Brandon Marshall (Miami/Chicago) 23 rec – 396 yds (17.2 avg) 3 TDs
8 – Marques Colston (New Orleans) 26 rec – 388 yds (14.9 avg), 3 TDs
9 – Malcom Floyd (San Diego) 22 rec – 384 yds (17.5 avg), 4 TDs
10 – Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona) 22 rec – 382 yds (17.4 avg), 1 TD
