Turnovers Costly Against Texans

Posted by ldouzable on December 4, 2012 – 2:29 pm

ap120605051289This past week we took on a Houston Texan team that held the best record in the NFL. We knew that to come out with a victory, it would take a complete team effort. Unfortunately, due to missed opportunities and turnovers, we fell to the Texans 24-10.

On offense we never really got into the flow of the game. Quarterback Jake Locker was able to throw for over 300 yards, but had three costly interceptions. Our offense turned the ball over six times which shifted the game into the Texans favor. Our running game stalled as Chris Johnson was only able to rush for 51 yards on 13 carries. It was the first time in the last seven weeks in which Johnson did not rush for at least 80 yards.

On defense we played a fundamentally sound game. After giving up a touchdown during the first drive of the game, we settled in and played well. We were able to hold Texans running back Arian Foster to 38 yards rushing on 14 carries. All-Pro wide receiver Andre Johnson had over 470 yards receiving over the previous two games, but on Sunday, he had just five receptions for 56 yards. We still need to improve on our tackling as we gave up some extra yards

This week we take on the Indianapolis Colts, who have been the surprise team of the year. We must continue to work hard in practice and work on our fundamentals as we prepare to take on this division foe.

Titans defensive end Leger Douzable will offer his perspective on the previous game and upcoming opponent all season long in his exclusive blog on Titans Online!
