Titans to Pick 10th in First Round of 2013 NFL Draft

Posted by Gary Glenn on December 30, 2012 – 9:17 pm

PrintWith the 2012 regular season in the books, the Titans now know they will pick 10th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Tennessee was one of three teams to finish the season with a 6-10 record, along with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. The Titans defeated the Bills and Jets in the regular season, and the three clubs will alternate the eighth, ninth and 10th picks in each round.

The Titans are scheduled to pick 39th in the second round and 71st in the third round (order affected by the Cleveland Browns losing a second-rounder in the 2012 supplemental draft and a second-rounder being taken from the New Orleans Saints).

Last week we had the 8th pick, since we beat the JAGS we fall 2 spots back.
    That might hurt us….

2nd round de or lb 3rd round ol 4th round ol db

  4. By fredrick boothman on Dec 31, 2012 | Reply

i agree losing two spots will hurt because they could of traded down to 10th pick and got a extra pick in the draft i dont see them trdeing down from there unless its only one or two spots down

  5. By fredrick boothman on Dec 31, 2012 | Reply

if i was the owner i would of told team to lose game by turning ball over by fumbles and interceptions lol

    I disagree with Fredrick Boothman.

We need to draft CB or Safety in the first. The DT/DE class is thick this year; and the Titans could grab a hot DT or DE in the 2nd. The O-LINE WILL get better when healthy, a 3rd round OT would suffice. They need secondary help and pass rushing help.

  7. By fredrick boothman on Jan 1, 2013 | Reply

no way do you use first round pick on db thats just stupid third round maybe they can fix secondary with free agency dt de or ol in first round and second round should be used for stephen s

they markelle martin who didn’t even play this year because injury he 6-1 190 fs who will be a stud for them next year lol

  9. By fredrick boothman on Jan 1, 2013 | Reply

stephen titans need to rebiuld there ol with some young studs need to draft at lease 3 ol in the draft this time around so dt de lb first round then 2nd-3rd-4thround ol

We may not be in bad shape to trade down depending on how many teams are interested in drafting a QB, in 2011 the Jags traded up to 10th for Gabbert and the Vikes traded up to 12th for Ponder. I don’t think we should go D line in the 1st round, I think we should rehire Jim Washburn to properly coach the tallent we already have. If Markelle Martin works out for us after returning from his injury, we could explore the possibility of keeping Griffin at FS and move Martin to SS. O line is our biggest area of need in my opinion, and if we are able to trade down to aquire another 2nd rounder, we could still look at a skill player with our 1st rounder and get our O line help with both 2nd rounders.

i agree with two ol in second round would be nice then 3rd and fourth round back to defense ya buddy

trade down twice get two extra 2nd rounders making 3 2nd rounders in 2013 draft?yes yes yes

why is titans waiting on getting a new offenive and defenive coordinaters come on we all know they need replaced so get on with it munchank get to work

  14. By Dnyce50 on Jan 2, 2013 | Reply

When you have the worst defense in Franchise history I think that means drafting needs to go to defense… We need a big or physical corner that can hit. We also need a consistent pass rush I say get an elite Pass rusher first since I don’t think many corners will go in the first round. I watch the Outback bowl and clowney from South Carolina is a beast and would fit for us. But we do need to upgrade the Oline in the later rounds Roos and Stewart are great tackles, we need interior lineman to get more of a push for CJ2k.

my mock draft for titans 1 star lotulelei dt or barkevious mingo olb 2 ricky wagner rot or david amerson cb 3 lane johnson lot or dallas thomas lot 4 alex hurst rot 5 alvin baily og or marcus lattimore rb go titans

  16. By addicted2football on Jan 2, 2013 | Reply

@Dnyce50 – Yes our defense looked silly most of the season, but we’ve drafted pretty heavy on defense the last couple of years taking LBs in the 2nd and DTs in the 3rd. I think our problem on defense is coaching because our front 4 had more push than Bangkok until Jim Washburn left. We need to rehire Jim Washburn and bring in a new DC. Clowney would be awesome, but I’ll bet you any amount of money he’ll be gone before #10, possibly top 5.

you guys need to remember the off season. first off our line isnt that bad we just need depth in case a injury happens like this year we NEED! to sign the bill offensive guard andy levitre and draft a center/gaurd like braxton cave or khaled holmes in the third or fourth. we also need a power running back peyton hillis wouldbe good and some may debate but if marcus lattimore would be available in the 3rd or we had two second round picks i think we should get him, also we need to sign a wide recieverand tight end if possible. then theres defense obviously first place to look is dline the only player worth signing would be cliff avril should he decide to not sign with the lions, and since titans dont like to spend money they should get the safety william moore instead of paying big bucks for dashon goldon. inb the draft while people dont want us trading to far back i say trade away if we trade back into the 20′s we can draft a safety or cb but if we get a trade to like 16 or so the perfect man would be sam montgomery as he can pass rush and run stop. second round wouldbe good to get a dt like kawaan short or sylvester william the third would be the perfect time to draft a cb like marcus davis or desmond trufant if lucky fourth youd get an oc/og fifth would be a wide reciever or running back another would be ss ray ray armstrong or tyrann mathieu also we should get a couple of compensatory picks so fear not titans fans we are going big this year.

The Titans have an abundance of defenders! Tommie Campbell will be tried as will Coty Sensabaugh and Markelle Martin among others!Like to see the Titans pick a OG or DT/DE in the First round! They need help on both lines big time!!!Besides that we have youngsters everywhere else and should be fine. Go Titans Go!

round1 dt de or ol round two dt de or ol round 3dt de or ol now after three rounds they have a ol dt and de joining there team go titans 4th round rb or ol 5th round rb or ol what that spell super bowl ya buddy

  20. By franklin p jr. on Jan 3, 2013 | Reply

we do NOT need a DE, WR , LB (outside or inside), or CB….i be happy to see anything from QB(i dont think that will happen so i really hope im wrong and locker turns out great though.) OL, DT, or saftey opposite from griffin, as we’ve got him for a few years at least. i think verner is going to blossom into a pretty solid CB and i’m guessing its him campbell or sansaubaugh (however you spell his name) and i gotta say i think campbell can be solid in the nickle or dime, plus in our draft history we’ve been pretty solid at getting CB’s late in the draft(fin+rolle, ect). but bottom line we cant make the mistake we’ve been making of drafting what “need” right away, we need to get in the feel for drafting the BEST player available…THAT’s how dynasties get built not by picking smuck early because you feel a need to fill a position…but with our early pickings it should be easy to accomplish both things at the same time always a bust or two in the early half of the top 10

the titans need to address the defense more than anthing they gave up a lot of points off big plays. They also could barely stop any offense this year unless they cause a ton of turnovers. we need to pick up someone in our secondary or Defensiveline

  31. By Jeremy on Jan 7, 2013 | Reply

First thing, Clowney will not be available guys. He’s just a sophomore at South Carolina. Now I do agree that Oline, Dline, CB, and Safety are the Titans needs, with the outside possibility of RB. I think the Titans can trade down and still get tremendous value in the first round. Sam Montgomery will be on the board after 15 if they want to go Dline. Oline is stacked full of players to choose from and there will be linemen available in the 3rd or 4th round to draft to gain depth at the position. Now if the Titans really want to go CB, Banks from Miss. State will probably be the pick. Big physical corner who can cover and help in run support. I think if the Titans took a look at a RB to compliment CJ, it would be a Knile Davis late in the later rounds. So keep watch for that as a sleeper in the later rounds.

The Cowboys just fired Rob Ryan. Now this is a reason why Dallas will never win the big dance… This guy can coach an he brings attitude to a defense an you let this guy go. Titans must take advantage of this opportunity to get this guy in Nashville. I wouldn’t be suprise if he heads to New York with his brother.

Last years draft was completly horrible.Do not let the GM anywhere near the draft this year.He single handedly set the Titans back 3 years. The Titans are good at RB,WR and LB.Every where else we are very weak.GM do not screw this up again. For the 3rd year in a row,we need a DE. For the 2nd year in a row,we need 3 CB.For the 5th year in a row we need 2 saftys. For the 4th year in a row we need 2 guards and a center.Since Frank Wychek we need a TE. Oh and also good job sitting Locker for a year, that really paid off.The job the front office is doing is almost the same as the Clevland Browns.I better not see you draft a RB,WR or a LB anywhere in the draft.I am so mad at our poor drafts year in and year out.I mean its as if you guys played for our rivals and drafted for us.Your drafts make no scence at all.Every year I am totally bewilderd at the job you guys do.This year make scence.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

  37. By James OBrien on Jan 9, 2013 | Reply

Dear Titanman45.You make scence.Ryan would be a great fit for the Titans. The problem is ,is if the coach or a players salary demands are average to high the Titans want nothing to do with it.I cant remember the last time the Titans had a quality free agent come aboard.Thats why we keep loseing. No good free agents and multiple poor drafts. This team has been run into the ground.Maybe its time for all of us to let the Titans go.

  38. By titansfan on Jan 10, 2013 | Reply

they seriously need to look at free agency to get jake locker out of nashville or try to trade away to bring in a quarterback with more consistency this guy just hasn’t brought anything to the table but yes i think we need to strengthen our d line things just haven’t been the same since haynesworth and vaanden bosh

  39. By Mick on Jan 10, 2013 | Reply

Titans finished dead last in points allowed in 2012, someone told me before draft that this is an offensive league now…well it didnt work out to well for the Titans this year, the defence needs to be fixed. maybe if they get Rob Ryan he can fix it , but for sure the defence needs attention….

  40. By Keith Ward on Jan 12, 2013 | Reply

Sad to say but maybe we should think about another quarterback! maybe 2nd or 3rd round.. but i believe its necessary

  41. By Dnyce50 on Jan 13, 2013 | Reply

Ok guys now lets be real, Its way too early to give up on Jake Locker hee was hurt and this was his first year starting. It does take some quarterbacks a little longer to develop and everybody doesn’t come out of the gates like Luck, Dalton, RG3 and Cam Newton. If yall remember Matt Shuab, Eli Manning, and Aaron Rodgers all sat on the bench and struggled when they first got to start. He just need more development. Plus the QB class is not deep this year. But I really am curious, do you all feel that Rob Ryan would help us? I was interested when I heard he was let go by the Cowboys. I want us to get him but how do yall feel?

  42. By titansfan78 on Jan 14, 2013 | Reply

i thought rob ryan would be good for us to get when i heard the news as well but the fact of us not having a top offense scares me in getting him because its a fact that since rob ryan has been a dc he has not had a winning record for any of his teams and hes been doing it for 8 years i think maybe if we had an elite offense that him as the dc would be alright but until our offense can improve it just doesnt seem like ryan would work but i could be wrong just my thoughts on that matter as for locker he does have some problems with consistency but i do agree that we should not give up on him so easily he will be a great qb after he recovers from his shoulder surgery im sure even though its his not throwing shoulder that was hurt it bothered him still through tout the year hell i know it said he was probable for most games

  43. By titansfan78 on Jan 14, 2013 | Reply

so i think a healthy locker and and off season to get better with consistency will do him good and i agree with the fact i think we need or at least may need to explore the possibility of rb in the draft i think a good idea is to trade down get the best player available get another 2nd rounder and look at picking up monte ball from wisconsin with it being a passing league now adays you dont see all that many rbs going in the first round so i think he will be there in the 2nd round that kid is a beast and reminds me of cj in his 1st few years i think if we had the duo of cj and ball and a healthy o-line and healthy locker our offense would be insane we would have a o line to block for the run having ball would push cj2k to do better then he has been doing cuz face it getting only 10 to 40 yds in a game is horrible for someone of cj2ks caliber and having a dynamic duo of rbs would open up the passing game and if lockers healthy with britt (if he can stay out of trouble for once) wright and the rest will set our offense up i do think we would also need to get a good TE just to solify thats just my thoughts on it though

  44. By Bad News Titans on Jan 14, 2013 | Reply

Look the possibility of us getting any better with Bud Adams at the helm is out of the question we had one of the best coaches in the league and finally got rid of his biggest problem (vince young) only to drop him a week later Munch needs to stick to o-lines because he knows jack about running a team (just like his owner) if they would have given fisher full reign of the team and let him pick the players and staff and just shut up sit back and write the checks we would have been one of the top tier teams in the league the can draft who they want and they can bargain basement shop in the free agency all they want to until we get new management we are screwed i sincerely hope “Bud” reconsiders keeping Munch and gets a proven coach and backs off and lets whomever he hires run the show…..youd think it would dawn on him ” I’ve been trying the same thing for fifty years and it aint worked yet maybe i need to shut up and let football people run the football team” but I guess every village does have its idiot and ours is running our Titans!!!!!

  51. By James OBrien on Jan 31, 2013 | Reply

The Titans only have a couple positions that are any good. One of those positions was linebacker. Why on earth did the Titans let the LB coach go? I mean, how many poor decisions can you make in a row? Whats going on? I dont understand. You guys are paid alot of money to be right, yet even the simpleist decisions seem to stump you guys. Its time to go back to the basics.Run the ball and play great defence. So that means we need to add a few top notch o-lineman,first.Then picks 3 thru 7 need to be spent on defence, as well as a couple of above avg. free agents. Now here is a simple plan that will bring the Titans back into the playoffs.Do not over think it.KEEP IT SIMPLE.
