SI.com Mock Draft Has Alabama Guard Chance Warmack to Titans at #10

Posted by Gary Glenn on January 24, 2013 – 4:30 pm

Chance WarmackSI.com columnist Don Banks released his first NFL Mock Draft of 2013 and has Alabama guard Chance Warmack going to the Titans with the 10th overall pick.

The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Warmack was a unanimous first team All-American and first team All-SEC selection as a senior. He started 39 career games at left guard.

Writes Banks: “I think Titans head coach Mike Munchak played a little guard as I recall, and he’s going to see the NFL’s next great guard when he scouts Warmack’s game. It’s not a sexy pick for the Titans, but protecting Jake Locker and helping the Chris Johnson-led ground game get more consistent is plenty important enough to warrant a top 10 pick on an interior lineman of rare pedigree.”

Here’s how Banks sees the top 10 picks going down:

1. Kansas City – OT Luke Joeckel (Texas A&M)
2. Jacksonville – DE Bjoern Werner (Florida State)
3. Oakland – DE Damontre Moore (Texas A&M)
4. Philadelphia – QB Geno Smith (West Virginia)
5. Detroit – OLB Jarvis Jones (Georgia)
6. Cleveland – CB Dee Milliner (Alabama)
7. Arizona – QB Matt Barkley (USC)
8. Buffalo – QB Mike Glennon (N.C. State)
9. N.Y. Jets – DE Barkevious Mingo (LSU)
10. Tennessee – G Chance Warmack (Alabama)

So we ask Titans nation — what would you think of this pick?

i think rebuilding offensive line is over due chance warmack’s is good choice for first pick dallas thomas from tennessee in second roundor big defensive tackle in second round. if they use first two picks offensive linementhen 3rd dt or de 4rd db or lb 5rd db or lb. THEY CAN TOTALY REBUILD OL BY MAKING FIRST TWO PICKS ON OG-OT. THEN IN 2014 USE 2RD AND A 4RDOR 5RD ON OL AGAIN IT WOULD GIVE THEM ONE OF THE BEST OL IN THE NFL FOR TEN YEARS. IN FUTURE DRAFTS ONE OL IN DRAFT FROM 3RD-5RD

OR YOU CAN MAKE A REAL GOOD DEFENSE BY USING FIRST TWO PICKS ON DEFENSE 1RD DT 2RD DE OR DB OR LB 3RD OL 4RD OL 5RD DB OR IB

HOPE FULLY THEY PICK UP A COUPLE OF OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE PLAYERS TOO IN FREE AGENCY. BY USING FREE AGENCY AND DRAFT THEY COULD FIELD A POSSIBLE PLAYOFF TEAM AND MAYBE SUPERBOWL TO GO TITANS

I will dance in my living room if the Titans call his name! This is the only pick that makes sense for the Titans. This pick can help CJ, Locker and the defense. If the offense can extend drives, then the defense won’t have to be on the field as much. What one player can help in that many areas? We’ll never know what kind of player Locker can be until we put him behind a good O-line. Chance Warmack is the right pick and I just hope he’s still there when the Titans pick.

i think thats a good pick if the titans pick up some good player in free agency on d defensive side. i hope they go after ED REED WE NEED A GOOD SAFETY and DOMINIQUE RODGERS-CROMARTI CB. and then if round we can focus on chance warmark and 2nd round go after a big DT.

I think we need to go after one of the two top guards in free angency. I believe one of them plays in buffalo and has 4 years experience. Get one of those guys and draft Star with the first pick, OG/a true center in the second. In the third best available De/OL. Thinking our safety Martin will be ready to play next year. Would be nice if can trade Griffin

Warmack is a animal…This guy puts fear in LBs, believe me titan fans if this guy falls to us then this would be a BIG upgrade. In the 2nd rd we need DT. In free agency we need to go get the Safety Gholston from the 49ers who will be a free agent. I

Warmack at pick 10 is a HR for the Titans.

Round 2 we should go after a DE or DT. And I would LOVE for the Titan’s to go after T.Mathieu (LSU) and convert him to SS in round 3 or 4. That kid would be the next Blaine Bishop as a SS. That would move Griff back to FS and a ferocious SS in the Honey Badger. Just my 2 cents.

Warmack would be a welcome addition to any team that needs an interior O lineman, but am I the only one here who thinks that a top 10 pick is way too high for a G? The best I can tell, the last time a G was taken in the top 10 was when the Cards took Leonard Davis at #2 back in 2001. On the other hand, the latest mock draft by Bucky Brooks shows Warmack going to the Jets at #9 and us taking a different G at #10, so, it could not only happen again but this year we may have 2 G’s go in the top 10. I’m just accustomed to only seeing LT’s go in the top 10.
