Houston Chronicle Columnist States Strong Case for Titans’ Owner to Hall of Fame

Posted by Gary Glenn on August 5, 2013 – 4:09 pm

Titans, BearsHouston Chronicle columnist John McClain said it’s time for Titans owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. to have a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

McClain was on hand for former Oilers defensive tackle Curley Culp’s induction this past weekend in Canton, Ohio.

“The one guy that I feel fully deserves to be in is Bud Adams,” McClain said. “A lot of people today don’t realize Bud’s contributions, but you cannot write the history of the National Football League without Bud.”

Adams, one of the original founders and driving force behind the start of the American Football League, has been on the Hall of Fame’s preliminary list for several years, but has yet to advance through the process.

McClain, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee, said that needs to change and emphatically stated a strong case for the long-time NFL team owner that is worth checking out in this video.

What has Bud done? 50 years of ownership and 0 rings…Now that’s what I consider Hall worthy…The Rooneys are somewhere laughing at this suggestion.

Mr Adams is a worthy of the Hall of Fame, as an owner and his connections in the early stages of the game. ( early 60 ‘s) Thanks for all that you have done.and we are hoping for a ring for you and the TENNESSEE TITANS.

John McClain has been covering the Oilers , Texans and the NFL for many years and does know his facts and the stuff behind th scenes. He is absolutley right, Bud should get the HOF Jacket real soon damnit !! I grew up in Houston loving the oilers and am now a diehard Titans fan, still living in the Houston area (makes me alot of friends, dont ya know !!) and I know the players loved Mr Adams for moving to Nashville where the stadium was and is packed and the fans have a strong love affair wuith the team, something that disapearred in Houston,,,Thanks to Channel 2, 11 and 13 with the County Judge, Commissioners and the friggin Mayor of Houston who caused Bud to go east to Tenn. Thanks Mr Adams, you are one of the backbones of the NFL in my book.
