Chris Johnson Opens with 70 yards, 2 TDs on First 8 Carries

Posted by Craig Peters on November 14, 2013 – 8:04 pm

ImageChris Johnson rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on his first eight carries to give Tennessee a 14-0 edge on Indianapolis with 4:06 left in the first quarter.

Johnson capped the Titans’ opening drive with a 30-yard touchdown run, his longest rush of the season, to give Tennessee a 7-0 lead.

The Titans opened the drive firing with four straight pass plays, and after Ryan Fitzpatrick was sacked for a loss of one on the opening snap, the QB retaliated with consecutive completions to Delanie Walker.

Fitzpatrick, making his third start as a Titan, then converted third-and-9 with a 17-yard completion to Kendall Wright and found Wright again for a gain of 11 to move to the Colts’ 30-yard line. Johnson scored a play later.

The run equaled his rushing output on 12 carries the previous game against Jacksonville.

The Titans followed with an 11-play, 68-yard drive that ended with three solid runs by Johnson. He used his speed to get to the outside for a gain of 5, then followed by aggressively finishing runs of 8 and 7 yards.

Yeah, CJ rushes for 70 yards and 2 TDs on his first 8 carries, then gains 36 yards and no TDs on his last 9. I don’t understand why our team only looks good for 30 minutes, we either play great in the first half then give it away in the second, or we suck in the first half and then fall just short in the second. We had every opportunity to beat the Texans, the Cheifs, the Colts and SHOULD have destroyed the Jags. There’s no legitimate excuse for this team not to be 8-2 right now, other than we’re just apparently getting outcoached.

It looks to me like the OC just doesn’t know what to do .In Game. The practice one way and call the game totally differently. Situational football is today;s catch phrase but some time ya just have to decide to stick to what works, play the talent, ie Britt and hope for the best. 10 yrd passes and long handoffs to Wright won’t win you anything in this league….WAKE UP OC,YOU ARE BLOWING THIS ONE LAST OPPORTUNITY

Can we PLEASE stop treading water? CJ2K, Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Delaine Walker, and a defense that can stop most anyone. So with all that talent…why can’t we beat the Jags? Coaching.

What this team needs is a new head coach and a new Franchise QB. I’m sorry, but it’s true.
