Titans Turn to Ground Game for TD

Posted by Craig Peters on December 22, 2013 – 2:19 pm

A short touchdown by Shonn Greene has brought the Titans within three points at 16-13 with 4:01 left in the third quarter.

After opening the possession with three straight throws, including a 15-yard completion from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Nate Washington on third-and-3, the Titans ran the ball eight straight plays.

Chris Johnson had runs of 4, 8 and 9 to move the ball to the Jacksonville 46-yard line. Tennessee then brought in Shonn Greene, who gained 3 before busting lose for a 29-yarder, the team’s longest run of the day. Greene took the next three carries for 2, 2 and the 1-yard score. Greene broke tackles by Paul Posluszny and Johnathan Cyprien.

For the Titans, this win did not help the organization. Fans are disappointed. Fans have only the draft to look forward to, and now the Titans dropped down the draft ladder. Tickets will not sale out again next year, because it’ll be hard to convince the state of Tennessee to have confidence in the Titans. I been a Terrible Titans fan for 14 years, but it’s time to go with a winning organization like the Patriots. No wonder Manning didn’t choose this team.

Our draft position is going to get even worse, with the Skins at 3-12, Houston won’t be foolish enough to try and beat us this weekend and lose the 1st overall pick. We’ll end up at 7-9 and pick somewhere between 15th and 20th. I also have been a die hard Titans fan since 1999, but I do believe we’ll sell out next year because the fans will want to rally around the new coaching staff that I’m sure we’re going to get.

Another Titans season coming to an end and another mediocre Titans finish. How in the world will the Titans’ brass sell us fans on coming back to the stadium next season especially if Locker and Munch are back next year?

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Locker back next year because his salary is only about 2 mil and we won’t have a draft pick high enough to go after a QB, but there is NO WAY management can justify keeping Munchak. After the Texans let us win Sunday so they can keep the 1st overall pick, Munchak will have a career record of 22-26 but his record against teams that are .500 or better is only 2-20. We can’t forget that 1 of those 2 wins was a throw away game in the regular season finale at Houston in 2011, they rested their starters the whole game and could have sent it into OT with an extra point, but instead failed on a 2 point conversion becase the game was meaningless to them.

We were 4:1 with Locker at the beginning of the season. The defeat by Houston that we should would coulda won was that loss. We messed up by playing Locker too soon after his first injury. This season was a lot better than last and one step closer to doing good in the playoffs next year.

People keep mentioning our good start to the season with Locker…Did we start “3-1” with Locker? Yes…But I ask, who did we play in those first four games? Pittsburgh, the Texans, Chargers, and Jets…Bad teams a good team should beat. But my question to all the Locker supporters is, how did we and Locker do against the better teams like Seattle, Kansas City, and the 49ers? All bad losses. Locker is just like the Titans…Not good!

curson4life – I’m done supporting Locker, but in all fairness, Locker didn’t play Kansas City or Seattle, Ryan FitzPICKrick lost those games for us. I mentioned in an earlier blog the only 2 reasons Locker will be with us in 2011, (1) his salary is only about 2 mil, (2) our eventual 7-9 record won’t net us a high enough draft pick to go after a top QB in this years draft. We’ll end up rolling with Jake in 2014, and then our new HC will draft his own QB in April of 2015.

Addicted, let’s just hope this organization finally does the right thing by us fans and finally moves this franchise toward a Super Bowl title. And I would hope Titans fans stop accepting mediocrity.
