As training camp rolls on, Titans center Brian Schwenke continues to provide you the players insight of what it’s like in the preseason.
Entry #4: The Road Trip
It was great to have a practice in the stadium on Sunday and get that feeling again of being there. Then heading to Atlanta for Monday’s joint practice was really important for us. It was big to be able to go against someone that wasn’t our own guys. Not just cause you get sick of beating up on your own teammates but because you get different looks. I get so used to our d-lines pass rush moves and their techniques that I’m pretty good at countering them. When you go into a practice where you’ve never practiced against those guys (or seen a lick of film), it was really good for us to do that and to see how you play against new talent. I thought we played really well against the Falcons. There were some nerves going in for everyone but we had a great practice.
The trip was also a nice little bonding experience because we got about 10 hours of cards in amongst the o-line during the bus rides. We played cards pretty much the entire time to and from Atlanta. Let the record show that I was the champion on the trip down. The return trip wasn’t as kind to me so I’ll leave it at that. The game was called “7’s” and I have to Eric Olson credit for bringing it to us.
Then we got Tuesday off and I LOVE days off. I’m pumped that I was able to get my massage this time around (I know you were concerned about it) and get my body feeling a bit better. I was ready to go today and hit it hard with our game against Green Bay coming up.
Bonus update on Chance Warmack: Chance is doing great and grinding along through camp like the rest of us. He was multitasking on the bus rides to Atlanta playing cards and talking to his mom. It was really cool because his mom came to watch him practice against the Falcons along with one of his former coaches. Chance was happy, and when Chance is happy, I’m happy.
