Britt Out for Season With Torn ACL and MCL

Titans head coach Mike Munchak just announced during his Monday afternoon news conference that wide receiver Kenny Britt will be lost for the season with a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee. Britt injured his knee during the second quarter of Sunday’s 17-14 victory over the Broncos at LP Field.

“It’s very unfortunate for him, and obviously for us,” Munchak said. “He was off to a great start this year like you all know. He is a special player and he has a lot of work ahead of him, but he is young and we know that he will be back next year.”

Britt will have surgery in about a week after the swelling goes down, Munchak said. The club will likely sign a receiver later this week. Munchak confirmed that former Titans receiver Justin Gage is a possibility to return after being released at the end of training camp.

Munchak said it will be difficult for one person to replace Britt.

“It has to be a group effort. One guy can’t come in and fill his shoes, but as a group we can,” Munchak said. “We’ll have to fill that void with a lot of people.”
