Britt Out for Season With Torn ACL and MCL
Posted by on September 26, 2011 – 3:40 pmTitans head coach Mike Munchak just announced during his Monday afternoon news conference that wide receiver Kenny Britt will be lost for the season with a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee. Britt injured his knee during the second quarter of Sunday’s 17-14 victory over the Broncos at LP Field.
“It’s very unfortunate for him, and obviously for us,” Munchak said. “He was off to a great start this year like you all know. He is a special player and he has a lot of work ahead of him, but he is young and we know that he will be back next year.”
Britt will have surgery in about a week after the swelling goes down, Munchak said. The club will likely sign a receiver later this week. Munchak confirmed that former Titans receiver Justin Gage is a possibility to return after being released at the end of training camp.
Munchak said it will be difficult for one person to replace Britt.
“It has to be a group effort. One guy can’t come in and fill his shoes, but as a group we can,” Munchak said. “We’ll have to fill that void with a lot of people.”
