Titans Defense Ranks Among NFL’s Best Early On

Posted by Gary Glenn on September 28, 2011 – 11:20 am

Through the first three weeks of the season, the Titans have fielded one of the top defenses in the NFL. They currently rank first overall in yards allowed per contest:

1. Tennessee Titans (261.0)

2. Pittsburgh Steelers (263.3)

3. Cincinnati Bengals (276.3)

On a scoring basis, the Titans rank second in the NFL, allowing only 14.3 points per game:

1. Baltimore Ravens (13.3)

2. Tennessee Titans (14.3)

3. Detroit Lions (15.3)

Credit new defensive coordinator Jerry Gray and the defensive coaching staff for getting the Titans to produce at a high level early on with little time to get in sync following the lockout.
